The work you were trained for

Placed where the doctorate is the point.

Research labs, fabs, cleanrooms and platform teams across the Bay Area hire doctoral depth at $250,001 and above. This is the calibre of work we place into — not the role beneath it.

Active reverse recruiting

Recruiters work for employers. We work for you.

A conventional recruiter is paid by the company and fills the company's opening. We invert the model. Our fiduciary duties run exclusively to the candidate we represent — the search is built around your trajectory, your compensation objective and your constraints.

  • We identify and select employment opportunities commensurate with your qualifications and compensation objectives
  • We prepare and submit applications on your behalf — and go to hiring managers directly when that works better
  • We tailor your résumé and materials for every position, as an integral part of placement (never a separate product)
  • We coordinate interviews, prepare you for each round, and run the offer analysis and negotiation
  • You receive ongoing written status updates: applications submitted, employer responses, interviews scheduled

The method

Six phases. One accountable team. Thirty days of documented work.

Every engagement runs the same written procedure — sourcing, agreement, employer research, valuation, preparation and close. Select a phase to see what actually happens inside it.

Who we represent

Doctorates in the disciplines the Bay Area pays for.

We represent candidates holding an earned PhD in a technology discipline — computer science, engineering, data science, applied mathematics, the life-science computational fields, or a closely adjacent area. Choose a discipline to see representative $250,001+ tracks.

Positioned below the credential

The candidates we seek out share one pattern: a terminal degree and documented, quantifiable impact — currently sitting in a role that under-levels both. Correcting that gap is the entire job.

Listed and unlisted

Two pipelines into every target employer.

Most of the market applies to what is posted. We catalogue what is posted and analyse what is not yet posted — the unlisted need a PhD-level hire could fill.

Pipeline AListed openings

Every qualifying posting, catalogued.

For each ranked employer we record every open role at $250,001+ — department, function, seniority, posting date and stated or estimated range — then assess the skills match and note gaps that framing can close.

Output · $250,001+ Position List · skills-match assessment

Pipeline BUnlisted needs

The position that does not exist yet.

For the top three employers we analyse whether an unlisted need exists that this specific candidate could fill — then build the case, with a defensible payroll and benefits valuation, and take it to the people who can create the role.

Compensation model

One fee. Disclosed before you sign. Due only after you start.

You pay a placement fee of 10% of first-year gross base salary, within fifteen days of your first day of employment. The hiring employer separately pays us 10% under its own agreement. Combined, never more than 20%. There is no other charge of any kind.

Illustrative. Fees are calculated on gross annual base salary and exclude bonus, equity, commissions and benefits. Hourly roles convert at the contracted rate × 2,080 hours. Your terms are fixed by your signed Active Reverse Recruiting Services Agreement and the posted fee schedule.

$0 upfront

No registration, intake, retainer, deposit, subscription, administrative, cancellation, résumé, counselling or minimum fee. Directly or indirectly.

Card, debit or ACH

Paid through our secure Stripe portal. Where a single payment is impractical, Klarna is available on terms arranged directly between you and Klarna.

Terminate any time

Either party may end the agreement on fifteen days' written notice. No fee, charge or penalty of any kind attaches to termination.

No paper against you

We take no confession of judgment, promissory note or assignment of wages — ever — consistent with California Civil Code §1812.505(d).

Protections built into every agreement

A regulated engagement, not a handshake.

We operate as a bonded California Employment Agency under Civil Code §§1812.500–1812.508. That means statutory protections, in writing, before you are ever interviewed by us.

Refund rights

Fail to accept employment after a fee is owed and we repay it on request. Leave for just cause within 90 days and the fee is refunded or reduced under §1812.506.

Replacement search

If your employment ends for any reason within 90 days, we conduct a replacement search at no additional charge — and no further fee is payable on the result.

Independent counsel

Before signing, you may take up to one hour with an independent California employment attorney — arranged and paid for by us, representing only you.

No salary history

We never ask for or rely on your current or prior pay. Advocacy is anchored to our valuation model, consistent with Labor Code §432.3.

Representation by invitation

We choose whom we represent — and we choose carefully.

We do not accept general applications. Our recruiters source, score and invite the candidates we take on, working a ranked list from the top. The standard is fixed and it is public: an earned doctorate in a technology discipline, a San Francisco Bay Area search, and a first-year compensation target of $250,001 or more.

If you are inside that standard and would like to be considered, you are welcome to introduce yourself. Every introduction is read by a recruiter — but we would rather decline early than take an engagement we cannot serve well.

Geographic focus

One market, known completely.

We work the San Francisco Bay Area exclusively — the Peninsula's silicon and life-science corridors, the frontier AI labs and platforms of the city, the national labs and deep-tech of the East Bay, and the engineering campuses of the South Bay.

Concentration is the point. Employer intelligence stays current, introductions carry weight, and every valuation we build is specific to a company, a department and a role in this market. We do not pursue opportunities outside the Bay Area under any agreement.

How we work with Bay Area employers

Questions, answered plainly

The things candidates ask first.

Nothing. No registration, intake, retainer, deposit, subscription, administrative, cancellation, résumé, counselling or minimum fee — directly or indirectly. The only fee we charge a client is the placement fee of 10% of first-year gross base salary, and it becomes payable only after you accept an offer procured through our services. It is due within fifteen days of your first day of work.

Because it is disclosed, capped and consented to in writing before you sign. The hiring employer pays us a separate 10% fee under its own agreement; combined, we never receive more than 20% of your first-year base across both streams. Our duties under your agreement run exclusively to you — we do not act as the employer's agent — and we tell every prospective employer that you have engaged us and that we receive a fee from you. Your obligation is independent of whether the employer ever pays.

We identify and select the candidates we represent and do not accept general applications. If you meet the engagement standard — an earned technology PhD, a Bay Area search, a $250,001+ target — you are welcome to introduce yourself through the contact page. A recruiter reads every introduction; representation follows a screening interview and a full agreement review.

Self-sourced applications to employers we did not introduce do not trigger a fee — provided the employer is on the Pre-Existing Contact List you deliver within five business days of signing, or we played no role in the introduction. Employers we introduce during the term remain fee-bearing for twelve months after the introduction, whether or not we stay involved.
